Machinist-Toolmaker Apprentice
(Apprentices in years 1, 2 or 3 of training are encouraged to apply)
Summary:
Using various shop equipment and a variety of hand tools, the incumbent will assemble check fixtures and tooling
Job Terms:
Permanent full-time position.
Responsibilities:
• Fit and assemble parts to make, repair or modify fixtures, jigs, gauges
• Shape work piece to prescribed finish
• Cut and shape raw stock to specifications
• Set up and operate a variety of power and hand tools
• Other general labour duties as assigned (may be required to assist with the inventory control)
Qualifications:
• Obtained or working towards General Machinist (429A) or Toolmaker (610T) licence
• Experience operating machine shop equipment (mill, lathe, grinder) as well as measurement instruments (caliper, micrometer, gauge block)
• 1-3 years of working experience in the manufacturing assembly setting
• Knowledge of check fixtures is a strong asset
Personal Attributes:
• Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, manual dexterity
• Ability to maintain good attendance and punctuality
• Ability to take direction well and work in a team setting
