Fixture Designer

Summary:

Under the direction of the Engineering department head, the incumbent will maintain and adhere to customer standards, ISO standards and drawing standards. The successful candidate will possess working experience in 3D design software and solid knowledge of GD&T. The position requires the incumbent be abreast with latest technologies in the field.

Job Terms:

Permanent, full time position.

Responsibilities:

• Design Fixtures
• Engineer and design machine and change parts
• Maintain all design documents and fixture designs
• Prepare reports, documents and detail prints layouts
• Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to achieve company’s goals
• Perform project work as required, and participate in research and development projects(SHR&D)
• Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering and design, familiarity with checking fixtures is an asset
• Post secondary education in automotive product design program or related field
• Knowledge and experience in Surfacing and Solid Modeling (Solidworks is preferred)
• Sound knowledge of FEA/FMEA procedures
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret 3D e-drawings and GD&T markups
• Excellent computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet applications
• Excellent client service focus, with an ability to effectively collaborate with others
• Strong organizational and workload planning skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities
• Manufacturing experience is an asset
• Independent, self-motivated, and pro-active
